We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team and help provide high quality policy and program information to cities across the country. The Mayors Innovation Project is a learning network for American mayors committed to high road policy and governance: shared prosperity, environmental sustainability, and efficient democratic government. We provide clear, useful information on policies and programs for local governments and create high-quality peer learning experiences for local leaders. This person will work on a wide range of issues and connect with elected leaders and local government staff in a number of ways. We are a project of COWS, based at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
The successful applicant will be a strong writer, be able to communicate with a broad range of audiences, be familiar with local government and local policy, and have experience managing people and projects. Direct experience working for or serving in local government is preferred. The ability to think critically, work independently and be creative is a must. The successful applicant will work on a variety of projects, including some fundraising and grant writing. Some travel is required.
